Trace back from Planning worksheet to Source document. Plus- dependent operation steps in Mfg

Is it possible to trace backwards to the source of the demand in the Planning worksheet? If the planning worksheet recommends a production order and the reordering policy is set to order which would mean I have a 1:1 relationship between the sales order and the production order, can I easily trace back to the sales order from a planning worksheet line?

Secondly, when a production order is in progress, there will be many occasions where a particular operation may go over and beyond its end date. When this occurs, can Business Central have dependencies set up on subsequent operations so that it can automatically push out those operation end dates as well, based on what occurs on previous routing steps? Say an operation goes two days past its end date. Can you set up dependent operations so that the dependent operation steps start potentially two days later, i.e. are dynamic?

You can make a 1:1 relationship between the Sales Order and the Production Order by reserving the Items (for the Sales Order) that are coming on a Production Order. Is that why you are trying to find the specific Sales Order? It sort of works the other way around.

Hi, The table Requisition Line (246) contains the following built-in information, which should be traceable.

    Hope this helps.
    Thanks.

I feel there is a duplicate post about this, but the answer is you can use the Line > Order Tracking.  It shows you the reservation hierarchy for the line.

For Example, if a Sales Order causes a Production Order, which causes a sub-Production Order, which causes a raw material Purchase Order, the Order Tracking will show you the trace back to the original demand source, as well as everything in between.  This only works with "Order" or "Lot-for-Lot" Reordering Policies.  Be aware, if any of the chain has a stock based Reordering Policy, it will break the Order Tracking chain, since there won't be a reservation entry.

Hopefully this helps you track down your demand source easily.

P.S. The "Order Tracking" capability exists on PO Lines, Prod. Order Lines, etc.  This means once you "Carry Out Action", to create the supply, you won't lose your visibility to the original source demand.
