Custom Report from Assisted Setup

Hi I set up a reporting data in Assisted Setup using the Odata data source. I wonder if there's a way we can create a job with that report and run it automatically then send the report to a specific email, daily. If there is, can you direct us on how to do it or any reference that we can look into? Thank you

The Reporting Data Setup wizard results in an ODATA web service being published in the web services table. That is not a report, but a web service end point.

What exactly would you like to schedule?

You can consume the web services in Power BI for example and implement a scheduled refresh of the dataset, and setup email notifications.

Hi, We wanted to run a daily report of sales quotes and it should be sent to our sales email. Then eventually, we wanted to generate a sales conversion report; how many of those sales quotes have been converted to order and/or invoice. This is what we wanted to accomplish.

Steven provided the guideline here for Power BI

Other method is to design a report in BC then either ask users to run it or use Email Printer method to run the report and email. Also, if you are on SaaS you can use the following free app after you have your report ready (or if you have a report)

A few questions

1) Do you have this report in BC and can you use it today? if not then you need to design the report.

2) By sales email do you mean one fix email or you want report run for each sales rep (as an example) then email relevant report to that sales rep?

If it is one report that goes to everyone and you have that report in BC you can use that free app above or use following method and for email enter distribution email.

But if you need report to goes to each sales rep and unique to them you may need to try to create Job Queue with each sales rep as filter for report then assign different Email Printer to it. or use development.

1. I only have the one I created from Assisted Setup - Reporting Data Setup. If I can't use this can you direct me on how to create/design a custom report in BC with the list of sales quotes?

2. Just for one specific email.

As Steven mentioned mentioned that only creates Dataset. But BC reports has more requirements. See this page https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/business-central/dev-itpro/developer/devenv-report-design-overview

My suggestion is since you have the dataset (assuming you followed this guideline https://www.solsyst.com/post/building-custom-reports-in-business-central ) then maybe try the following

1) Follow this guideline to use your dataset in Excel and design the report you need https://thatnavguy.wordpress.com/2021/12/20/getting-d365-business-central-data-to-excel-using-odata-feeds/

2) Then use some guidelines for Excel (such as this https://chandoo.org/forum/threads/auto-refresh-and-email.9779/) and schedule it in one device to run and email
