GP Database Copy - Administration

Posted on by 94

Hello,

I am new to GP and looking for some help on the administration side.  I want to make a copy of an existing database but do not want to carry over all the transactions and data from the source.

I understand how to simply make a copy of the SQL DB but what I am looking to do is copy on the master data and setup/configuration without bringing over all the transaction from our testing.

Is this possible?

 Thanks,

Jerry

Yes, typically what you would do is actually create a new company using Microsoft Dynamics GP utilties.  Then you would use DTS in SQL to transfer over only the setup tables you want to use.  There is a knowledgebase article regarding this if you have access to CustomerSource or PartnerSource.  Just search on "copy setup".
