Hi Experts,

I found that there's no way to set a retention policy to Posted General Journal (tbl ID: 181) nor able to delete any records.
My purpose is to keep this list neat and only showing the records up to 2 years before as time passes.

Regards,
Kevin

    Hi Experts,

    Thanks for your advice.
I've found a workaround which utilise a 3rd party app, namely "IMPORT EXPORT POWERTOOL" from Insight Works to delete those older records that's not useful anymore. It's a shame that this app is not able to create a job queue.

    Regards,
    Kevin

    Hello,

Here, there are a few workarounds you can consider:
    1. Archiving Old Entries: You can manually archive old entries by exporting them to an external file (e.g., Excel) and then removing them from the active view in Business Central. This way, you can keep a backup of old records while maintaining a clean view in the system.
    2. Custom Development: If you have access to a developer or a partner with development capabilities, you can create a custom extension to handle the retention policy. This extension could automate the process of archiving and removing old records based on your specified criteria.
    3. Filtering Views: You can create filtered views or saved filters in Business Central to only display records from the past 2 years. This won't delete the old records but will help you maintain a cleaner view. You can set up a filter on the posting date to only show entries within the desired date range.
    4. Using Copy Journal Function: As you mentioned, you can use the copy journal function on Posted General Journals to create a copy of the entries you want to keep and then work with the copied journal. This can help you manage the entries more effectively.

Unfortunately, Posted General Journal is not part of the retention policy tables.

The only way is to customise it. You can check below post for how to add the table.

    Hi Kev,

I think below link might be helpful and also Dev team should be able to add retention policy to given table.

    Thanks
