Posting of SOP Batches

Posted on by 2

Has anyone experienced issues where SOP batches take an unusually long time, more than an hour, to post through?

In this instance the batch contained 179 documents and took more than 3 hours.

I would check out the White Paper on Performance:

It could also be something in the batch, a couple of examples:

    - 179 documents with 1 line item on each are not the same as 179 documents with 100 line items on each each.

    - If one of those documents is a return for inventory items going back to On Hand that are using average cost and have a negative inventory quantity, it could take a long time to process just that one item because of all the updates needed to the prior documents with this item.

There could be several different causes as to why the batch is posting so slow

    - Has the SQL server got sufficient memory / processing power

    - Are other non-GP processes running that are consuming memory /  processing power

    - Is the GP client on the LAN with the SQL server or are you connecting via a WAN.
