Commissions in Dynamics 365 for Financials

ReportReport

I was wondering if anyone could provide details as to what the process is for recording, tracking, and reporting upon sales commissions. I was able to set up a salesperson, attach it to a contact for a customer, create a sales invoice with that customer/contact, and receive the cash for it. At the end of this cycle, I ran the commissions report and nothing populated. I couldn't find anything that showed the commission for that sales invoice. Can someone detail out how the commission flows from the order to paying out the commission?

    Hello,

I was able to run the Salesperson Commission report and see commissions on the report. Here are the steps that I took and areas that I verified during my testing.

    1. In the Salespersons/Purchasers window I made sure that the SalesPerson being used had a Commission % defined.

    2. On the Customer Card I made sure that under the General section my Salesperson Code from above was defined.

    3. Created and posted the Sales Invoice for the Customer.

    4. Created the cash receipt, applied it to the Invoice and then posted the Cash Receipt transaction using the Cash Receipt Journal.

    5. Printed the Salesperson Commission report and the transaction and commission amount were include on the report.

The commission amount is calculated when the Salesperson Commission report is printed so it does not show on the Sales Invoice.

Please let us know your exact setup and steps if you are still not seeing commissions after verifying the information above similar to my testing.

    Thank you,

    Jennifer Reinhardt

Thank you Jennifer! I just tried these exact steps and my report is still blank. I can send screenshots of my setup. But I created a salesperson with a 10% commission. I then created a customer and assigned the salesperson to the contact. Then, I created and posted a sales invoice for that customer. I created a cash receipt, applied it to the invoice, and posted it. I ran the report both with and without filters. Neither produced any results.

Is there anything in setup/settings I need to do? Is there something I'm doing wrong with the customer card? Thanks again for your help!

    Hello.

You mentioned one thing that is different than what I tested, you noted that you assigned the Salesperson to the Contact. The Saleperson needs to be assigned to the Customer.  On the Customer Card in the General section you should see a Sales Person Code, if you don't see this option click on "Show More" that is on the top of the section on the right.

The other thing we can look at is the Invoice. Using the Search Icon (Piece of Paper with a light bulb in the upper right corner) type in Posted Sales and you should see an option to click on Posted Sales Invoices, click on that to open the Posted Sales Invoices list.  Locate the Invoice you are testing with and then click on it to open it, again in the General section click the "Show More" on the right (if available) and this will show all fields in the General section.  Is the Salesperson Code populated in this section on the Invoice?

Let me know what you find or if you have any questions.

    Regards,

    Jennifer Reinhardt

The first issue you mentioned was the case. I must have missed the "Show More" on the Customer Card. Once I fixed that and retested, I saw the commissions. Thanks so much for your help

Can I set commission % at the customer level? I would like to have the ability to change the commission % based on a customer since we have different margins for different customers. If not can this be done using dimensions, if it can, how will I set it up?

I have a scenario where, commission is on slab % basis which means on month end i come to know wheter 2,3,4 % is applicable not at the time of invoice posting.

2ndly sales return should not be considered, 3rd only received payment to consider

4th sales return should be considered even it is previous month sale.
