Assets have not been fully depreciated through the last day of the current fiscal year

Posted on by 330

We have a customer running Fixed Assets year end.  When they run the Year End Routine, they are getting a message that "Assets have not been fully depreciated through the last day of the current fiscal year.  Do you want to close the year?"

When looking at the book, we are finding there are several Assets that were fully depreciated earlier in the year.  I have attempted to run Depreciation on one asset to force the depreciated to date to update to the year end, however that gives a message that "This asset is fully depreciated".

Why is FA year end complaining about the assets not being depreciated through the end of the fiscal year, when these assets are fully depreciated.

I can edit the assets to update the depreciated to date if needed.  Is it better to just continue to close the year end?

    Angela -

There are several reasons this Error might occur. Here is a link to a Microsoft Knowledge Base article explaining some of the possible causes.  There is a SQL Script you can run, which should validate the cause of your error, ensuring you won't be causing any trouble, when closing the year.

Yes All asset have been depreciated for the full amount for the year.  The issue is on the assets that fully depreciated sometime before year end and the net book value was zero anywhere from Jan - August of this year depending which asset we look at.

You might be mis-reading the message.  Have ALL assets been depreciated for the full amount they should have for the year?
