NAV 2013 Multi country

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hi everyone,

I need some information and recommendation of you about an international roll-up with Dynamics NAV 2013.

Actually on my company we have 2 different Dynamics NAV installation (one in Spain -with Spanish local module- and another one in Italy -with the Italian local module-) with different developments made at different times. Both in the same version of NAV (2013).

Now, we've bought another company and we have to add your business and operations in UK, DE and FR into NAV.

I'm thinking about the following scenarios:

  1. Continue with our actual model implementing a new NAV in each of these countries, with separate databases and then connect it. That's doing new developments once and transfer it to each dbs.
  2. Develop a new centralized NAV with the Worldwide localization, adding the country specific functionality and migrating all our actually developments. That's re-develop everything we actually have and develop all the local requirements for each country.

What do you think about it? What's is your advice? I have a mess of possibilities in my head :)!

Thanks a lot in advance for your help!

    Hi,

I don't think you need to redevelop. As the databases will be different for each country, having tables of the same nature with different ID is ok.  It's my personal observation and I don't think, I will be having a bottleneck.

    Best Regards,

Sorry, I explain you better... I'm thinking about to create separate DB's (one for each country as you recommended me) but, as i explain in my first post, we already have two NAV installations with different developments and, in order to have a common environments, i'm thinking about re-develop our process because now, for example, the table with ID 50000 is different in Spain and Italy. In this way, is more easy doing changes or new developments for all companies because there isn't another option to manage this situation, is there?

    Thanks!

    Hi,

Somehow I couldn't understand the below:-

"Another solution is re-do our actual NAV, i mean, bringing together, all our actual developments, to simplify the release of all of them in the rest of dbs"

Thanks a lot for your reply mmv,

I think that's the better solution, adding (i'm thinking about it), a centralize consolidate company on a, maybe, separate db, where send the transactions of each company, in order to have a centralized dwh.

Another solution is re-do our actual NAV, i mean, bringing together, all our actual developments, to simplify the release of all of them in the rest of dbs.

What do you think about it?

    Thanks a lot!

    Best regards!

    Hi,

My suggestion is to have separate database for each country and then connect it.  If you start incorporating the localization specific functionalities in a single database, it'll be a mess, moreover, if you come up with one more localization in future, it will be a massive change again.  Even when you go for upgrade in future, it will be next to impossible.

    Best Regards,

    MMV
