Error on warehouse receipts related to the general posting setup

Good evening,

I write because I am facing a strange error. When I try to post a warehouse receipt, I get the following error:

a part from the fact that this general prod. group is not new so it is not clear why I am facing this problem now, how the general posting setup is involved in the warehouse receipts? I think that it shouldn't be relevant. Is this correct?

thanks in advance

Federico

Check the general product posting group on the item in the warehouse activity you are performing. Then check the general posting setup page and make sure you have an inventory adjustment account filled in for that product posting group. You'll want a combination setup for every possible business posting group for that product group as well. Here is an example of whats needed:

    Hello Federico,

Yes, General Posting Setup can be involved when posting a Warehouse Receipt, because posting the receipt creates Item Ledger/Value Entries, and depending on Automatic Cost Posting / Automatic Cost Adjustment, Business Central can also process inventory-cost adjustments. For a normal purchase receipt with expected cost, BC primarily uses Inventory Account (Interim) and Invt. Accrual Acc. (Interim); however, the Inventory Adjmt. Account is used for adjustment/revaluation/rounding value entries. So if BC specifically asks for GENERAL / TIPOGRAFIA → Inventory Adjmt. Account, it likely means a cost-adjustment/rounding entry is being processed as part of posting—not that the warehouse receipt itself directly requires that account. I would first populate the missing Inventory Adjmt. Account for that valid posting-group combination, then check Inventory Setup → Automatic Cost Adjustment / Automatic Cost Posting and the related item's Value Entries to understand why it is being triggered now. The fact that the posting group isn't new doesn't matter if this is the first transaction that actually requires that account.
