Emailing statements from GP10 with Outlook 2013

Posted on by 2

Good morning,

I recently upgraded a machine to Win 7 with Office 2013. When attempting to email statements a message comes up from Outlook which says, ' a program is trying to send an email message on your behalf, if this is unexpected click Deny......'.

The options given are 'Allow' or 'Deny'. Will this come up for each statement? and what happens at the next period when statements are run, will I have to do the same?

I tried one customer and took the option to 'Allow' and it went through, but, as I asked earlier will this be the norm?

    Hi Rosemary,

This is more of an Outlook security issue. Usually this comes when there is an external application, like Dynamics GP, tries to send an email using Outlook.

Please check your Anti-virus is updated till date and try sending email using Dynamics GP. This is the recommended method.

Otherwise, In Outlook go to File>>Options. Choose 'Trust Center' on the left menu and click on 'Trust Center Settings' button. On the settings window, choose Programmatic Access from the left menu and set the option 'Never warn me about suspicious activity'. Though the option is not a recommended one, it will serve your purpose.

    Hello Rosemary,

Dynamics GP 10.0 actually isn't supported with Office/Outlook 2013 as it was never tested by our GP Developers, so because of this, we can't say exactly that it will or won't work together.

That being said, looking for this message in our case history, it appears that this may actually be a UAC (User Access Control) setting that is blocking the process or possibly an antivirus application that is intercepting the email process.

If you click on Start > Control Panel > User Accounts, then click on Change User Account Control Setting option, and try changing it to never notify and then try sending an email again from Dynamics GP 10.0 to see if this makes a difference.

I also found this may be a prompt that can be suppressed using an ADM template for Outlook but unfortunately, our Outlook support team would be the team to ask about that, as we don't have that on the Dynamics GP side, and they're the experts on that side.

    Thank you,
