Alternate Keys - Inactive Records

Hi Community, 

I created an alternate key for the contact entity for emailaddress1.

I have no duplicates in my active records, but there are many duplicates in the inactive records.

Does the process to create / activate an alternate key also check inactive records?

    Hi Debbie,

    Yes. The alternate key also acts on inactive records.

    Its scope is all records of the entity, so no matter what state it is.

    So if there are duplicates in the inactive records, the status of the Alternate Keys is Failed.

    You need to delete all duplicate records, then click on “More Action” and select “Reactivate Key” option.

    Hi Lu,

    I did not confirm it answered my question, because i had to validate it first and this took a while.

    But i managed to get rid of all the duplicate email addresses, also in the inactive records and was able to successfully activate the key.
