GP 2013 server and client credentials mis match issue

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hi Team

Today we have  got strange issue on  my GP 2013 production environment.

issue

====

User A can log into the GP with his credential on GP 2013 server using GP 2013 desktop client.

same User A can not log into the client machine using gp 2013 desktop client which is point to the same server.

I tried to update the credential for that user ,but it will work only in that environment from which i have updated his credential i.e. if update his credentials from gp 2013 server then it is not working on gp 2013 client .

please provide your valuable suggestions to how to resolve this.

Thanks

Humayun

    If your ODBC connection for server and client both are same, then try to create a new user GP with some basic role and login with this user to check whether you are able to login.

    Your reply is much appreciated.

    Hi Humayun,

    Please check that ODBC connections mentioned by melissa, if the server side & client side ODBC connection should be same.

    If server side has configured with IP address then the client side follows the same(same encryption followed at both the ends).

    If server side configured with IP address and client side is configured by machine name then password conflict occurs(encryption get differs).

    This probably has to do with your ODBC connections not being exactly the same.  The entire string is used with the password encrypted.  So if you set up a user with the server name different than the machine they are logging in from, you will have this issue.  Take a look at the configuration of both and be sure they are exactly the same.  this is only an issue with users other than SA.

    Also ,please note that , sa credentials are working on both server and client machine.
