Request For calrrification About Running Inventory HITB report and Problem Faced By us In running HITB report

Dear Sir or Madam,

 

we request you to please assist us on the following issues and provide your valueable experience on the following problems faced by us in running HITB report.

 

  1. We have already installed the HITB report using the proper procedure i.e. running the rest tool etc. This was installed before last year’s (FY 2011-12) closing of inventory. After installation of the HITB tool we closed inventory last year.
  2. Do we again have to run HITB reset tool before this year’s (FY 2012-13)  closing or was it a onetime activity that we have already performed last year.
    1. Can we run the reset tool again? Is it advisable or not ?
    2. If we run the reset tool again, what will be the effects.
    3. If we have started running the tool again and have reached step 4 can we stop at this step or do we now need to complete the activity.
    4. Even though we are taking extreme care but still we are continuously running in to mismatch between ledger and inventory module? Any reasons that you can think of as to why are we getting in to this trouble. We are quite sure that this is not a setup mistake but some procedural mistake.

    Hi MIK,

    There is no need to run the reset tool on an ongoing basis.  If you do, that's okay but you can only go back in history to the date you ran the tool so it limits your historical research ability.  I don't know what step 4 is, but if you haven't yet emptied the inventory or GL accounts then you should be able to stop.  If your GL and inventory sub-ledger are not in balance, then there could be a lot of potential issues.  We would need more information about your environment.  Some things to be looked at are: posting settings, users not checking the box to post to GL on inventory batches, incorrect account numbers used on the item card setup, manual entries to inventory accounts in the GL, setting up items as service or misc fee item types, etc.
