NAV 2016 and CRM 2016 Connector Issue

Posted on by

Hi,
I am trying to implement the NAV side connector to CRM. looking at the CRM PRoducts Table in NAV.

I am on Both NAV 2016 and CRM 2016.

The connector works fine as is set up be default.

But, When I try and add a new field to NAV table 5348 CRM Product that is available in the corresponding Product Entity in CRM. I get the following error when trying to run the table on the NAV side. External Type='' is not supported. Page Edit - Product must close. Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

NAV Debugger isnt even triggering a error break. I am totally lost on this one.

    Hi,

I have implemented NAV and CRM connector. Even I was getting an issue in the beginning. But then what I did was first created an entity in CRM and then run powershell commands in NAV. So the table will be created automatically in text format at the location mentioned by you. Later you have to just import this table in NAV. It will then not give any error and integration will happen both ways from CRM to NAV and vice versa within seconds.

    Hello,

I am fighting with connector in Nav2017 too. Next solution is export table object into txt file, add this parametr ( ExternalType=xxxx) into field and import it back. But if you add some new fields into this table, navision will delete this parametr and you have to add it one more time.

Does this same error is shown when you open "CRM Products" page? If no, then problem most likely is in "integration field mapping" table. If "Is Kit" mapped to flowfield in NAV "Item" table, direction should be "ToIntegrationTable" and if you want bidirectional integration of said field writing some code in "CRM Int. Table. Subscriber" codeunit will be required

    Hi again,

After sorting out the ExternalType='' issue I have run into to a new issue.

I am trying to run integration synch between the Items Table in NAV and Product Entity in CRM. But when I run it. I get the below error message for all records trying to Sync to CRM.

The Is Kit field in the Product table must be a FlowField.

This is unusual to me as even the Standard CRM Products Table in NAV has the this field but it is not a flowfield. This should be a simple Boolean field.

I thought the new connector in NAV to CRM was supposed to be a smooth and simple configuration but Im pulling my hair out with it.

    Please help with this problem.

    Thanks

         John

I have discovered something interesting. On a Whim I decided to use powershell to reproduce the table by using the New-NAVCRMTable for the accounts crm entity.

When the TXT file is created for imported into NAV there is a property for every field called ExternalType.

But in NAV if you try to add a custom field to a Table and go to the field properties there is nowhere to set this ExternalType Property.

So the only solution is to export the Table from CRM and remimport into NAV. This isnt ideal for future CRM customizations. As it is not ideal to have to do this because one thing it does it renumbers all the fields in the TXT file again so you have to go in and manually edit the field numbers to be importable into NAV a dev NAV licence

The field in CRM is type Text length 100 as it is NAV as per the screenshots below

What is the field you are adding? What is the type of that field? Can this be a mismatch of the field types?
