Changing Item code during production

Posted on by 5

Dear Experts,

In my production lines i have same items with different sizes, Sometimes during production run some of the lots or pcs result into a smaller sizes, which i can use as a item already added in different code with different size.

E.g. I have a surgical instrument with straight jaws and same can be added as a different item with curved jaws, Some times we use the straight jaw item and convert into the different item of curved jaws.

Can anyone explain the best way to handle this situation in AX 2012.

As Christoph says. Essentially, you will be creating Formulas instead of BOMs. Formulas can have Co-products, which represent any number of items that could be produced on a single Production order.

    Hi,

That’s the idea of the batch order, you don’t know the output before production order creation in detail. It‘s an additional concept to the standard production order for just one item. Because of this it’s necessary to check the details and possibilities if they cover your requirements.

You may find a lot of information here.

    docs.microsoft.com/.../introduction-to-process-manufacturing-production-and-logistics

Of course there are a lot of other sources of information and examples.

    Hope this helps you

Thank you for your answer, It would be great help, if you could explain the same in detail.

Please note that we convert the item during production at run time, it is impossible to define it at start of the process.

    Hi Sohaib Qaiser,

please have a look to the so called batch orders / process production. With this feature you are able to produce multiple items out of one batch order. Maybe this is something to solve your issue.
