Can't connect Register cpu to main database...

Posted on by 5

I apologize if I'm on the wrong forum, I can't find the forum for Microsoft POS.

I am in the initial stages of setting up my Microsft POS system.  I'm trying to connect my register cpu to the main database stored on a back office cpu.  Both CPUs are running Microsoft POS and SQL Server 2005 (comes with POS).  When I attempt to connect the POS cpu with the back office cpu, it says it can't find the cpu on the network.

We determined we are running the correct port (1976) in SQL server as it recommends in the worthless manual.  Both cpus are on the same network / router, as we can see each cpu and transfer files via file sharing in Vista.

I am led to believe it's a problem with our network configuration.  Any help is appreciated!
