email icon gp reports

Posted on by 195

Hi,

In GP 2010 the email button on any of the reports is grayed out.  Any ideas why?

They are using and Outlook client and it affects all users.  Users are all local admins as well.

    Hi Mike,

that seems to be only part of the problem.  Now when we select a report, print it to the screen and click the 'Send To' button and select a text file you normally would get the email window to launch and the report would be there as an attachment.  In their case it prompts them for a profile to choose in Outlook, they select it and then nothing happens.  Almost as though something is blocking outlook from opening.  We have checked for virus scanning software which was disabled and it is XP so no UAC's.  They are also local admins.

    Hi Mike,

That was the issue, they did not have any recepients listed on the report.   Once they had chosen their options and saved it, the report icon was no longer greyed out.

    Thank you

    Thanks Roni,

I understand what you're saying on this.  When you first open your report (prior to selecting Modify) the email will be grayed out until you've specified the specific email settings under the option setup.  When you print (email) documents from that first window, it will do so based on how the option is setup, so it there is no email, it doesn't know what to do.

    Hi Mike,

the icon is there but greyed out so you cannot click on it.  If you select a report, choose your report options then click on the modify button you can eventually get to a place where you can enter in email addresses just not on the first screen after selecting the report you want to send.

In any of your report options, select the E-mail Options button.  Enter the valid information here including To, CC, and BCC emails, whether the report should be sent embedded or as an attachment, and a related message.  Click OK and reselect your report option, Email should be available.
