Master Planning Requirements Date

Would appreciate if anyone can help me to understand how master planning calculate the requirements date. Example:- I have a production order #100, Item A and the BOM item is B. (Details for B item :  On-hand = 10 ,  safety stock(minimum) = 15 ,  Open order that needs item B = 5 ,  Coverage code = Period Coverage, period = 20,  Purchase Lead time = 30.)  When i run explosion in production order (on 01-Feb-2013), I got the result for item B with a planned purchase order, qty=10 and the requirement date is 3-Mar-2013. Item A future date = 3 Mar-2013.  In fact, I still have available physical  5, why system take the planned purchase order date (3-Mar-2013) and not today's date? Any setting that can resolved this problem?

    On the master plan, Futures message fast tab try un-ticking the 'Use Futures date as Requirement date" checkboxes.

    Un-tick the Action message "Update postponed date as requirement date" option.

    I have another problem where by now system take the purchase order delivery date although i have stock on hand.

    Example:- I have a production order #200, Item A and the BOM item is B. (Details for B item :  On-hand = 10 ,  safety stock(minimum) = 15 ,  Open order that needs to use item B = 5, Open Purchase Order(item B) =  20 delivery date = 15-Mar-2013)  When i run explosion in production order (on 21-Feb-2013), I got a future date = 15-Mar-2013 (taken from bom line item B Purchase order)  In fact, I still have available physical  5, which enough for my production. why system take the purchase order date (15-Mar-2013) and not today's date? Any setting that can resolved this problem?

    It is very difficult to comment, but you can see in your actions that you have a lot of action messages and therefore hte accumulate figure can be misleading, the one two above your highlighted line should be cancelled, and then I do not know if you are passing these messages onto derived actions (coverage group setting). Not sure why you say you have 5 physical when we cannot see it. Also cannot see other settings like negative and positive days. I would suggest there are other lines removing the five you think you have in stock - is this a test system? Carry out all action messaged and see what is left.

    Thank you for your reply. In fact my question is like this. Supposedly I still have physically on-hand 5 pcs, at the same time i have a open purchase order 20pcs with delivery date 10-Apr-2013. When I run explosion in production order, it's give me the purchase order date instead of today's date? why? I can use the on-hand 5pcs for my production order..right while waiting for the delivery of the open purchase order to replenish my safety stock.

    AX can achieve this, which is why it is difficult to comment depending upon all of the planning and coverage group settings and the net requirements. As a simple test if you set an item with a safety stock of 5 and 6 in stock with a PO for 10 in a month and requirement for 5 in a week and have a coverage group of 40 days period with all fences set to 40 and negative/positive days set to 40 it would take the stock and action you to move the PO in to the requirement. All about the detail I am afraid.

    I have already set the followings in my coverage Group

    Coverage Code = Period
    Coverage Period = 100
    Coverage time fence = 100
    Negative days = 100
    Positive days = 100
    Coverage time fence = 100
    Freeze time fence = 0
    Firming time fence = 0
    Explosion time fence = 100
    Forecast plan time fence = 100
    Capacity time fence = 100
    Action message time fence = 100
    Futures message time fence = 100

     

    Do i still need to mark all the time fences in Master plans setup form?

    If there is a physical on-hand enough to cover my production, i prefer to use it althought the physical on-hand is below my safety stock. I do not wish get the PO date when i have a open purchase order

    Marking time fences in the MP overrides these.

    If the item is setup like this and there is one purchase order and one production order creating demand for less than the stock on hand AT the item dimension controls defined by the dimension group and the balance of the demand and stock then the system would align the requirement to the stock and NOT the purchase order. If in your system it is not doing this then there is a misalignment of planning dimensions controlling the supply-demand balance (site/warehouse etc) or there are other demands pushing the one you are looking at to teh purchase order which you should be able to see in the Net requirements. Just because you have it now does not mean you will have it at the due date of the order.
