You can email purchase orders using RPS Item Manager from retailpossolutions.com. You can also do auto purchase orders in their next release in August.

I agree, I wish the core technology for RMS would be updated. I just don't think it is going to happen.
Although this would fix the issue, in the client's environment it does not since they use Outlook there.
They'll have to live with it the way it is.
Thanks though. Wish Microsoft would update the MAPI interface in RMS alongside its Office suite or at least maintain some sort of backward compatibility... Shouldn't be that big of a deal to get two software engineers to send an internal memo...
you could try a different mail client to send out. Like Thunderbird.
each version of Outlook tightens the security around send email messages. But the mapi interface that RMS uses is very old. It might just not be compatible.
