Viewing and assigning records to Parent BUs and Child BUs.

I have a custom entity for which records need to be assigned to Child BUs and back to the Parent BU. Currently I have my Users and Teams Read and Write security privileges set to Parent/Child, but I understand that only allows the Parent access to the Child records and not vice versa. Are there any methods to allow the Child to view and assign records to the Parent?
