What is the best way to delete inactive employee payroll information, I would like to be able to do this by year and not just all inactive employee's. Any advice is greatly appreciated thank you.

Jeff, so you just took your company and created another database and restore it to there but then what did you do with archiving the old data, I'm not looking for a way to keep data I'm looking for a way to remove all data for a particular year, we only want to retain 7 years worth of data, so we would like to delete a year every year.
We have created Historical company just for this scenario. After we finish the year-end close I create a backup and restore it into my Historical company this way if the data is ever needed it is available. We have plenty of storage space so I wasn't worried about that aspect.
I looked at ISV solutions, including Richard's suggestion, however the powers that be preferred that I do it the way I described above.

May I suggest the company data archive product from Professional Advantage? You can pick whatever year you want as a cutoff and all data through all modules will be moved to an archive company. So you add this to your year-end procedures to archive data so if you only want to keep 5 years of data you archive the 6th year every time you create a new year.

Ok, so what we'd need to do is say I want to delete all history for currently inactive employees from inception through 2007. There may still be activity for these employees in years 2008 and beyond.
Is this right?
