Is it possible to add extra dimensions to be used in the demand forecasting parameters, such as buyer group?

Yes. It is. It requires some customization, but it is certainly possible.
There's a great video on YouTube of a Technical Conference presentation by Joaquim Rendeiro from Microsoft walking through how to make these modifications.
