I'm attempting to setup Depreciation in Dynamics 365 BC and have a scenario where we want to calculate Bonus Depreciation, otherwise known as the 168 allowance as follows:
- The 168 allowance is also called “bonus depreciation.” Basically this means that a portion of the asset’s value is taken into income in the first year, and then the remainder is depreciated. So for example:
- In year 1 an asset acquired for $100 is eligible for 40% bonus. First year depreciation is ordinarily 20%. So depreciation deduction in year 1 is $52 ($40 bonus + 20% of the remaining $60). Second-year depreciation (ordinarily 32%) is $19.20 (32% of $60).
- The bonus depreciation percentage changes from time to time. The 40% above is provided as an example
I do not see a way to get BC to handle that 40% bonus depreciation in year 1. The 20% is what BC will calculate using MACRS tables, but I can't figure out a way to get that Year 1 % to work (aside from calculating year 1 manually).
Any help would greatly be appreciated.
