Change in depreciation method of fixed assets

Hi My precious friends.

Can I add a book as shown in the picture below to change the depreciation method?

Do I need to manually close the status of the existing book?
Do I have to manually enter the acquisition price and the remaining useful life in the new book?
Isn't there an automatic conversion function?

Thank you

    Hi,
You can refer to this official document: Fixed asset depreciation - Finance | Dynamics 365 | Microsoft Learn, this article provides an overview of depreciation in Fixed assets. If you change the depreciation method, you may have to manually close the status of an existing book to ensure that the old depreciation method is no longer applied. You can also refer to this old thread, which describes the steps to change the depreciation method: Solved: FA depreciation method changing in Book (dynamics.com).
    Best regards,
    Kevin

Change in depreciation method of fixed assets
    Hi Kevin Xia

First of all, thank you for your reply.

I would like to change it to something like below:
    1. Depreciation method for 2022: Decrease rate method
    2. Depreciation method for 2023: straight-line method
=> Each transaction history is not deleted and must remain.

We also want to convert many fixed assets at once. How can I know how to do this efficiently?

    Thank you

You'll need to use Data management framework to import the new Book records.  FixedassetbookV2 is the data entity.  You can use the same data entity to set the old book status to "Closed".  To be safe, I would also change these values to No on the old book:
