Integrating Sales Order data into NAV

Posted on by

Dear All,

We have data of sales order and purchase order on SQL table of bespoke software.  We wanted to integrate the data from that table onto NAV sales order and purchase order.  What are the option available in order to integrate the same.

    Hi,

There are few options (direct SQL integration, using web service) available and my preferred method is Dynamics NAV web services with a small DLL to push data to Dynamics NAV. This will allows me to validate data with Dynamics NAV business rules and push the data with no errors. For the data with errors I can update the SQL table log with related error message.

    Babu,

We used ADO.net integration in NAV  to read those SQL tables and defined the rules to create the orders in Navision. It is all can be integrated in a codeunit and schedule that in the job queue to run it timely.

You should also integrate master data, at least Customer and Vendor, with needed details of addresses and contact persons, and perhaps other related data, such as sales managers. campaigns, etc. If you need to deal with items in lines, this would bring additional integration of items and items related information (e.g., measurement units).

    Hi Babu,

You can use the SQL Replication and replicate these data into NAV database.

Further use NAV Jobs (Periodic Activities) and create the related documents in NAV on periodic basis (as needed).

You may also create Stored Procedure and read these data using ADO.Net Integration. I am not sure, how easy or fast this would be.
