However in the article it mentions exporting the extension from the sandbox. How do you do this?

    After clicking on "Stop Designing" choose the download option or find the extension in extension management and download it.

    I have a related question.  I can see where to download the code.  However, if I want to import this into my production instance of Business Central, I need to have a .app file. This download does not down load a .app file.  How do I export the .app file?

    From the sandbox, select Extension Management. Then from here you can select your extension and export it.

    However, to publish an extension in a production tenant, you can take the .app file developed with Visual Studio Code and manually load it from the Extension Management page.

    Any chance of adding a little more detail to this?  What steps should be taken once code is opened in Visual Code Studio to prepare it for import into production environment?

    Open the downloaded code in VS Code, remove the dependencies from app.json, compile and load the .app file in production.

    Any chance you can dumb it down a little further for an Accountant trying to be a half a** developer? I have the code exported and loaded into vscode.  I have the launch. and app. JSONs as well as the page extensions.  I cleared out the dependencies from app.JSON.  How do I compile as .app?

    Hi jVermette,

    Opening Command palette in VScode, you can select "AL:Publish without debugging" or "AL:Publish with debugging".

    Then, .app is gonna be created in your folder.
