GP Web Client Scrolling Performance

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Greetings!

We would like to know if there is any option to improve the scrolling performance on the GP2015 R2 web client. Ideally, we would like to increase the amount of data fetched from the server, so that the web client is not querying each time the user scrolls on the window.

Note, i have the GP resource cache installed on the server and the service is running. Are there any options on the local machine to tweak the web client?

Thanks!

Sandeep.

    HI Sandeep,

I'm not sure that changing the size of the lookup windows will change anything in the performance.. I've see this too but in the full client of GP, where depending on the number of records you had to lookup, it just took a sheer amount of time to populate the list and then scroll thru it (I believe it was in the employee maintenance card).

Microsoft had a blog post recently about the HTML5 web client planning & deployment:

    See if this helps.

The only thing which come to my mind is, you can change the scrolling window size (through modifier) to show more lines and it will fill more rows when window opens.

Hi Almas - this one is the SOP Invoice lookup, but applies to all look-ups in general.

    Thanks,

    Sandeep.

    Which scrolling window is it?

    Hi Beat,

Thanks for the reply. We have about 25 users connecting via the web client. The server is 8 CPU with 122 GB RAM. I agree with the connection quality being important and we are taking steps to improve that. Though what i wanted to know was of any setting that would allow me to increase the cache size, so that more records were pre-filled, instead of tmaking the connection each time and pulling back 1 page at a time. Also, this is a single server deployment, so everything is on the same box.

    Regards,

    Sandeep.

    HI Sandeep ,

How many users do you have accessing the Web client on a single server ? did you followed Microsoft's recommendation for the sizing of the GP Web server ? In my past experience the cache server didn't changed much in the performance of the web client.. the quality of the connection had more impact...
