Importing "All Activities" from Dynamics CRM 2013 to Dynamics 365

Posted on by 5

Hello,

I am new to this forum and am not very tech-savvy so I apologize in advance for both -  if there is an answer elsewhere AND/OR if a solution explanation that goes over my head.

Anyways - I have been tasked in my organization w/migrating all activities of all contacts, leads and accounts from Dynamics CRM 2013 to Dynamics 365, most of which have already been migrated over.

I was instructed to manually export activities/import  "All Activities" for each one. In this particular case, I am instructed to export Activities to an Excel file and then, to upload/attach this sheet under the "NOTES" Section, like so (obviously, any new activities that have since occurred since the import are viewed under the ACTIVITIES tab) :

As you can imagine, this is a tedious process (There are well around 15,000 -20,000 leads, contacts and accounts to do this for).

This was my instructed workaround for anyone who wants to see old activities BUT I was hoping there was an easier way to import this data perhaps in a similar way that all the other data was imported? My question is:

  1. (Is this POSSIBLE? Doing a bulk import of Activities - similar to the way other data was imported. Hopefully to be populated and view-able under the "Activities" tab?)

Thank you for anyone's help or input. If I can import Activities from the old CRM into the new one (under the "Activities" tab) I can save myself a few months of work and would be super grateful!!!

    Hi Sara,

First of all you will have to do advanced find for all the activities individually i.e email, appointments, phonecalls etc. and export the data of each activity entity.

Please make sure while exporting, the "Regarding" column should be present as it will associate your activity with the related entity i.e Account/Contact/Lead.

I suggest to save the exported sheets in csv format. After that one by one you can import each sheet to  CRM. Its possible to import activity entity like the other entities.
