I know that GP 2016 does not offer parent-child relationships in regards to general ledger accounts, but is there a way to create account groups. (i.e. multiple AR accounts into 1 group).

Dynamics GP has the ability to set up a 'fixed allocation' or 'variable allocation' accounts (Under Cards | financial) , so when you post to one single allocation account you can have it allocate to multiple breakdown accounts or posting accounts at time of posting.
'Fixed allocation' accounts allows you to allocate to distributions accounts at a fixed % for each. 'Variable allocation' accounts don't use %'s and the system calculates how much to post to each distribution account based on the activity of the 'breakdown' account linked to it (which can be another posting account(s) or unit account(s).
If you have a test company, I would encourage you to set up a fixed allocation and variable allocation account and test keying some transactions so you can see how they work.
Hope that helps,
Cheryl

When I refer to AR accounts, I'm referring to multiple AR general ledger accounts.
