Dynamics GP and LDAPS (encrypted LDAP)

Posted on by 261

Hi,

Does anyone know if Dynamics GP can make LDAP queries using secure/encrypted LDAP on port 636 instead of 389?

I have a customer indicating that GP is still using LDAP and sending clear text queries. They need to enforce secure LDAP.

is there a way to enforce LDAPS for GP.

If GP doesn't support secure LDAP, why not?  with the recent push to disable TLS 1.0/1.1 on servers isn't this just as insecure or worse?

thanks all.

Just to bring this question to a close.

I logged a support ticket, and the official response is...  (drumroll)

LDAPS. Not supported or tested by Microsoft for GP.  (Might work, might not)

HI Derek, i had assumed this was the general situation regarding core GP, thanks for the clarification.

Perhaps if i re-phrase the question.

When GP or its related applications and services query AD can this be either LDAP or secure LDAP depending on what's enforced at the company site?

If the client disables insecure LDAP queries on port 389, will GP and related services still work by communicating on secured LDAPS port 636?

    thanks again

Dynamics GP doesn’t use LDAP or Kerberos for its calls except for when calling Active Directory, and AD is only used for things like the Web Client, Workflow, and SSRS reports.

    Thanks
