Farm Tax for MS RMS

Posted on by Microsoft Employee
I'm trying to set up NC Farm Tax for my new business in RMS. Any ideas on a way to associate approved items with no taxes to a tax code and/or set up a the individual as a customer/etc. Would be beneficial to associate items to a particular tax code, but other customers will be taxed normally for the particular item. For instance, normal customers will be charged normal tax rates for fertilizes/feeds/etc, but others who have farm/agricultural designation would not be charged taxes for items.

You should setup all the taxable items with a sales tax under the item properties screen.  Then create customers for people that you don't need to collect taxes on their purchases.  Under the customers there is an option for tax exempt and a place to store their tax exempt id.

At the time of sale, you will need to assign the customer to the sale.  This when then make the sale tax exempt and record the transaction to the customer so that you can report on this later.
