Mass Delete of Assets

Posted on by 75,730

Is there any way to do a mass delete of assets? We have 156 assets that need to be retired and that will be quite the task if we have to do that one by one.

Yes, that is another reason we don't really support macros............they're great when they work, but when they don't.................  :)

I'm happy to hear you were able to get the macro to work for you.

Thanks for the update and have a Happy Holidays as well!!

    Thanks Derek.

We thought about the mass retire but that would create a journal entry (which I know we could delete) but the problem is they imported 200+ assets and put them all in with the wrong dates.

We were able to get a macro to work but it was tricky!

Thanks for your response, and happy holidays!

    Hello Heidi,

Technically, GP Support is limited in being able to advise about macros as we don't actually support them, as they are considered a customization. We don't troubleshoot why they do work or the setup of macros and would only give basic advise.

If the issue is how to mass delete assets, I'd recommend the Transactions > Fixed Assets > Mass Retire functionality within Dynamics GP, as that is the only way to mass remove assets and you can do so by group, but as mentioned, the group has to be contiguous/in some sort of order.

That's about the options we have by default.

    Thanks,

We have this same issue with a customer and are having trouble building the macro. Does anyone have step by step specifically for this task? I've found several instructions on how to do import macros but not delete macros. Help!?!?

    Thanks!

Yes. I am also suggest you to create a macro file and delete the assets.

    Hope this helps!!!

I would be inclined to use a macro, especially if the Assets you wish to retire are not contiguous.

    Hi Richard,

Transactions - Fixed Assets - Mass Retire.

    Thanks,
