Hi,

I want to import data from excel sheet into GP by using dexterity.  User will browse and attach the excel sheet and when click on import button data should import in GP table.  This is not from backend sql server I need this in user level from front end using GP dexterity customization.  Is it possible.  Please send me the details steps to do the customization.

Regards,

Noushad

    You can use Excel COM objects in dexterity like

    Create an object of Excel.Application();

    Read data from your excel worksheet using - Excel.Application().Workbooks[0].Worksheets[0];

    Then you need to work with individual cells or ranges of excel worksheet to read data and insert into grid.

    Hi,

    Thanks for your reply.  My requirement is to import data from excel sheet to GP not export data from GP to excel.

    Please check how we can do this by using dexterity.

    directly using via MACRO.

    or using dexterity code to create macro.

    There is Excel Paste already in GP plus several other Excel Paste type programs (Infinia) out there. Why re-invent the wheel? The user browses to the file and then marks the cells to copy and then into GP it goes.

    RE: How to import excel data in GP by using dexterity

    Hi,

    You mean we need to open the attached excel file then when run macro it copy the filed data from excel to the gp form and save form. when save the form data will be updated in table.

    Is there any dexterity function to call excel file as an object and read the records and write to table directly.  Like how we are exporting data on excel from GP.  Here we will create excel an object and define rows.

    Excel Paste is part of GP. If you are sitting on the transaction entry screen you will see a Paste button on the top. You have your Excel spreadsheet open a mark a series of rows that contain the account, description,debit and credit amounts. You then position your cursor on the first line in the grid and click Paste. It will then copy everything in the Windows clipboard to that grid. This allows for only one ledger entry at a time. If you want to do multiple entries I would suggest the Excel Paste program from Infinia. (www.infinia.com)

    not seeing what you are seeing at all

    I open inventory transaction and I have no paste feature GP 2013R2

    other than a right click copy\paste ....we have many instances where a direct link to excel would be beneficial...specially in the Manufacturing BOM

    Transactions->Financial->General is where you will find the Paste function.
