Can I limit the Inventory Assembly Screen so each department has a view of items they can build?

Posted on by 800

This is a question from our customer on the Assembly screen:

"Is there a way to limit the items that a particular user can assemble?  For example, if you have two departments with two different sets of items, can you limit the assemble entry screen so the each dept can only assemble their set of items?"

Thanks in advance for your assistance!

I agree with Dan.  No way to do this out-of-the-box.  If you assigned the items by a Department/Site combination, you could also develop logic that would allow only those users assigned to a specific Department to select items from the related Site in the Assembly Transaction window.

This would have to be a custom and probably have to base it off of Item Class or one of the User Category fields.    I am not aware of any functionality to limit what items can be seen based on users.   Another way would be to build a business process around the assembly.   Dept A can only build this list of items and Dept B can build this list, and so on...
