Custom Lookups

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

I'm wondering if there is an easy way to create a custom lookup.  In the Item Lookup on Sales Transaction, it lists the item number and short description and additional sorts.  I do not want the short description, but the full description.  Aside from changing the sort every time the CSR wants to find an item, is there a way to have just the Item Number and Item Description, leaving the Short Description off of the lookup entirely?

Thanks

The Set as Default View option on each lookup allows each user to select a specific form of lookup, including customized searches and SmartList Favorites, and make this look up the default search for that user.

Things like this are discussed in our newly revised MS Dynamics GP Power User manual.  You need a copy.  Find it on our web site.

    Hello,

I have created smart lookup-search for Items, Customer,Vendor and Project Accounting. Currently Working on Accounts and Employee.

Can you please go through below video and let me know your view? This may help you on lookup functionality you are looking.

Use modifier and replace the short description field column with item description. The Items is a smartlist window lookup

Thanks for the answer, but I can add description by using the 'additional sort' drop down.  That  gives me a cutoff view of the descriptions, but that's not what I want.  I want Item Number and Item Description (with the full description).

How would I go about modifying the lookup?  I have access to all of the customization tools.

    Hi

You can try to switch to the standard item lookup (with lesser functionality) which shows both the Short Description and Description. However, you might miss the smartlist lookup capabilities.

The smartlist lookup, however, works the way it has been designed, unfortunately.

Let us know if you need further assistance.
