Currency Decimals Need 6

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

I have a strange item we need to set up where I need the cost to extend out to 6 decimal places however GP maximum currency decimal extension is 5.  Here is the example...

Item ABC is a raw material  - we will purchase in cases of 10,000 pieces at $51.35. We will use and manage the item per piece so therefore when we receive it in we want that to be reflected as pieces not the case which of course comes to $.005135.

As you can see there is only 5 decimal places.  From a manufacturing perspective, do yo really need to track a .005135 cost.

With such small values, we would just issue the whole stock out and just use it up.  You can transact to your GL Accounts so it gets included in the manufacturing costs.
