RE: sending notifications to specific user

Workflows are used to connect and automate business tasks that require different users. In Business Central you can create workflows.
Let's take your example where you need to send approval request for a sales order. There is a template already in system for Sales Document approval. You can use that to create a new Work flow. Then you need to create a hierarchy of users with their email addresses that who is approver and who requests, it is done in Approval user setup.
On enabling this Workflow if you now try to post an open Sales Order system will prompt you to send a request. Then on sending request the approver that is set on Approval user setup will get an email. From there he can approve if he has outlook otherwise he can open Business Central and in notifications he will have this notification. Approver can either Approve, Delegate or Reject this request.
