Database error upgrading from on premise 2013 to 2015

We have installed 2015 on a new server, and are running the Import Organisation Wizard. The import fails because 'the columns in the Dynamics CRM database are not consistent with Dynamics CRM columns.

As we understand it, our database is already in the 'merged' state it should be for 2015, and the inconsistent columns listed appear to be for every single table in CRM so I don't think its to do with any customisation.

Has anyone else experienced this error at all?
