Our GL is currently set up to allow allow users to post within the date range 01/10/14..31/10/14
In user set up my date range is set as 01/09/14..31/10/14
If I run Adjust Cost - Item Entries Batch job ...... what date range will the GL postings be allocated to. I know that there are some September transactions that still need updating.

Saurabh is right, that's how NAV standard works in this case... however confusing that is. But, you will get a "Date not allowed" error if there are adjustments that are before 01/09/14. This will only change if you use inventory posting periods... but then, the posting date that will be used for posting in closed periods will be 01/10/14. This is also confusing. We have changed our logic to respect also the user-defined earliest posting date (and also there, partial definitions allowed - earlier starting date from user, ending date from G/L setup, and the same for the ending date).

If User setup and GL setup both are having allow posting from and to then in that case, system will look at the user setup first and if find the allow posting date range then consider it.
If user setup is not having the date filtration then only system looking at the GL setup allow posting setup.
In your case, if user is having permission to post from 01/09/14 to 31/10/14 (1st sept to 31 oct) then system will post the GL entries in September for September value entries.
