bookable resources (Field Service) - Hospitality

Posted on by 385

Hi,

I'm not quite sure that the tool Field Service-niversal Resource Scheduling  is the best tool for my needs, but I'm trying my luck here and maybe you can help me out.

Let's say I have a medium-sized hotel with 600 apartments with different characteristics (/features). Such as sea view, high floor, low floor, corner apartment and so on...

The rental period can be from a few months to a year.

What I want to understand is whether I can create 600 apartments with different features (some apartments will have a number of features, some apartments have one feature, some apartments have no special features at all).  Next, I want to create a customer's demand for a particular apartment (eg an apartment facing the sea) and check whether the apartment is available within the date range he wants.  If so, I would like to schedule the apartment for the entire period, making it "unavailable" to requests from other customers.

Can anyone guide me the steps for building such a scenario?

    Either double-click the tab with the name of your schedule board (such as "Initial Public View") or click the settings icon and then "Open Tab Settings".

    I'm sorry I do not really understand what board you mean when you saying "Double-click the board name and "Open Default Settings""?

    Double-click the board name and "Open Default Settings". Scroll down to Schedule Types, select "None" (this is for generic resource requirements). Find the Schedule Assistant Filter Layout and select the latest version. The control's source code must include:

    <control type="combo" source="optionset" key="ResourceTypes" label-id="SB_FilterPanel_ResourceTypesFilter_Title" entity="bookableresource" attribute="resourcetype" multi="true">

         <data>

           <value id="2" />

           <value id="3" />

           <value id="4" />

           <value id="5" />

           <value id="6" />

           <value id="7" />

           <value id="8" />

         </data>

       </control>

    In your case, it probably lists only 4 out of 7 options. Also make sure your resource requirement has a duration.

    Thanks for the explanation !
    Unfortunately I'm missing something, when I click "BOOK" the system does not show any property.

    The steps are described here -  I do not understand what went wrong:

    To check the feasibility of the approach:

    • Create an Organizational Unit (OU) for the entire hotel, this allows you to group all apartments under that OU. For additional hotels, create more OUs.
    • For testing, create a couple of resources of type facility. Set this at the creation of the resource, you cannot change it afterwards. Associate them to the OU. Start and end location is "OU Address".
    • Create skills and associate 1..n of these to your room resources.
    • It doesn't sound as if you need all the complexity of work orders, thus directly create a Resource Requirement (RR) with Resource Type=Facility. Since you don't care how people get to the hotel, you might set Work Location=Location Agnostic. Add 1..n skills. Only upon creation of the RR you can specify the Allocation Method. If would try "Full Capacity" and specify start and end.

    Now you have 3 options:

    1. Find the RR on the schedule board and click "Find Availability", but you probably don't need the map etc. Instead you can...
    2. …click "Book" on the resource requirement and see the available room resource or...
    3. ...if you are on FS v8.7 you can activate Quick Book (see release notes) which gives you a very light user experience.

    Would be interested in your findings, please share.
