Using Position or Manager Hierarchy to approve Time Entries and Expenses

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Howdy,

I have been unable to figure out how I can set up our Dynamics365 Project Service instance to enable our managers to approve time sheets and expenses.

What I am trying to do is:

1) Allow the manager to see the submissions

 Entries-for-approval.PNG

2) Then approve the submissions

I have tried both Manager Hierarchy and Position Hierarchy but I remain the only user able to see and approve the entries.

I am still looking for an answer to this question. If anyone has any recommendations on changes or sees issues with what I am doing I would appreciate it.

    Thanks in advance

    Mr. Mostafa,

Thank you for your response. However, these articles do not really answer the question of approvals.

This article joegilldotcom.blogspot.ie/.../project-service-automation-delegation.html references delegations, but it is not really scalable for me to delegate my approval as our organization grows. Also, it is my understanding that the hierarchy (manager or positions) should handle this by design.

The second article community.dynamics.com/.../230115 references the first one, and a cloud fronts publication. That publication is really just a detailed version of the final article.

The final article  www.microsoft.com/.../approve-time-and-expenses-project-service-automation.aspx just discusses how to approve, which I already know.

My main goal in all this remains providing our users the ability to approve/reject time entries or expenses of their subordinates.

    Thanks,

    Erik
