Our organization uses Model-Driven Apps and Canvas Apps as a front-end for our customer's managerial operations. Dataverse has served as our data store for all data.
Recently, we became aware of the API limits imposed on the Dynamics platform. We already process nearly 1,000 messages a day, and wish to scale to many times this size. However, at the current pricing model, it seems that it would be cost prohibitive to scale these services.
A Per User Capacity Add-On is listed at $50 for 10,000 additional requests monthly. Considering one business flow may contain multiple API operations, we may be limited to much fewer than 10,000 messages processed per $50 dollars spent. Even if it were 1:1, what if we wanted to do a 1,000,000 messages day? Would we need to buy 100 Capacity add-ons at $5,000 a month?
We have considered adding other services to our stack, but fail to see how we could ever use the Power Platform as a front-end without leveraging the API in some way to load the data into Dataverse. From our understanding, even connectors and flows count towards the API limit, so there doesn't appear to be a way around this API limit.
Are we missing something here, or is Dynamics not built for this type of volume?
Thank You.
