How to install AX 2012 R2 on PCs?

Our current setup has some virtual terminal servers with AX installed on it, which users remote into to use. We are currently troubleshooting an issue where users constantly get kicked out of AX, and cannot use it again until their .AUC and .KTI files are deleted. One of the things I would like to test is installing AX onto the users PCs directly and getting rid of the RDC connection, but I seem to have gotten stuck.

I found a download for it, but I get to a section that asks me to add a Model Store. It wants me to add a server name and a model database name, but I'm not sure where I can find the model database on the server. If anyone has any other tips for moving AX from our terminal server onto a single PC (for troubleshooting), please let me know.

The installer allow you to install many different components and you're installing a wrong one.

What you should install is just the client, which will connect to the application server (AOS) that you already have. You seem to be installing AOS by mistake.

Where did you get the download file? Which components your are trying to install? Just AX Client? Or all the components, including AX client, database and AOS?
