Importing Solutions vs Update Default Solution

I just want to make sure I am understanding Solution control in CRM correctly...

We have a 'Default' solution that you can modify by going to customize the system. Any additional solution is additive correct? For example if I create some fields and put them onto a contact form in a new solution and then import it into our production environment, does the default solution get modified at all so that I'd see these new fields there? Or is it always going to just remain in the solution I created/imported?

Hi,

Whatever you import or customize in your environment, managed or un-manged all will be available in default (base) solution as well.

So if you will create a custom solution and add your custom entity there, it will be also present in base solution. if you will import managed or unmanaged solution that will also become part of your base solution
