Enabling financial dimension in ledgerjournallineentry template in D365FO version 8.0

Hi All,

We are implementing Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations version 8.0 to our customer and we have requirement to show financial dimensions in LegerJournalLineEntry excel template. To do prototype of this requirement we followed below steps as per MS link

1.     Add dimensions to the DimensionCombinationEntity or the DimensionSet entity.

2.     Add the dimensions to each template where you want dimensions in separate columns. For more information, see Create open in Excel experiences.

3.     Add the capability to look up financial dimension values in Excel.

4.     Publish the template.

As per step3 above, we are not able to add relation to DimensionCombinationEntity.DimensioIntegration & DimensionSet. DimensioIntegration entity extensions as shown below.

Due to this we are not able to show lookup values for financial dimensions in LegerJournalLineEntry excel template and only able to show financial dimensions column.

Does anyone have similar requirement, if yes how you addressed in D365FO version 8.0? 

Any help on this highly appreciated?

    We have a similar requirement to be able to upload journals with dimension values into Dynamics.

    Rather than customize, we just modified the Excel template, and added the fields containing main account + dimensions (and offset account + dimensions), and uploaded that new template.

    Our users, while not delighted about not having the option to have a lookup for dimensions values decided they can live without it, and we do not need to do any customizations.

    Most of the use of Excel templates will be for uploading repeating transactions, so dimension values dropdown selection was not crucial.

    hi,

    did you create relations between DimensionCombinationEntity.DimensioIntegration & the required financial dimension entities?

    take a look at this article docs.microsoft.com/.../add-dimensions-excel-templates

    if you're using custom dimensions, then you need to create your own entity and add it as a relation.

    you have to create a new entity for each custom dimension

    Hello All,

    I have also the same problem. Lookups are not appearing for financial dimension columns in excel template. I struck up with this since 2 weeks. Anyone achieved this?

    Hello Mukesh,

    Thank you for your reply. Its not working after build for dimensions model and db sync. I have added financial dimensions through Addins->Add Financial Dimension for Odata

    1)BusinessUnit

    2)CostCenter

    3)Department

    and i created extension to add the relations as per the steps from below microsoft url docs.microsoft.com/.../add-dimensions-excel-templates. Is there i missed anything?

    Hello Mukesh,

    I achieved the lookup for default dimension columns in excel. Is it possible to do ledger dimension?

    BusinessUnit  - Account.BusinessUnit

    CostCenter - Account.CostCenter

    Department - Account.Department
