Estimated revenue is not read only on header

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

The Estimated Revenue field on the header will need to be read only. It will be populated by updating another field. On the preview form it appears to be read only, however once the form is published, the system is refreshed, the Estimated Revenue field is NOT read only. I have a business rule in place to lock the field but that doesn't seem to work. How can this remain a read only field at all times?

    Try this Business Rule:

    If Est. Revenue contains data

    Lock Est. Revenue

    If Revenue = User Provided

    Lock Est. Revenue

I tried that as well. The Est. Revenue field still has the same issue. Everything functions as it should with a newly created field regardless of where it is on the form (header or body).

    Hi,

Please try to add the field in the Form body as well (you can hide it) and Check weither the business rules is working then.

    Thx Thomas

Basically the field can be unlocked until data is entered. Then it needs be locked and remain locked. We have a workflow set up to update this field when an amount is entered via a project estimation (which is a subgrid on the form). I testing everything out using a newly created field and it all functions as it's supposed to. I just don't know why it won't work with the Estimated Revenue field.

Isn't the estimated revenue a mandatory field? In such case, when it is not filled, it is probably be set to editable, in case it is empty on save.

I had this issue e.g. when trying to hide the Default Name field on a custom entity and it always was displayed on save, because it was empty. So I had to Create some JS to populate a Name on save.

How do you populate the estimated revenue field?

    Hi.

Stupid question, but did you activate the business rule?

I have already tried that and the field does not remain locked once everything has been published.

    Hi

Could you please make a field read only and publish form in IE?
