Expensed Tax amount

Hi

I have a purchasing tax scenario where the tax is expensed; it follows the expense account(s) in the Purchase invoice..

so if my purchase invoice has the following lines with Tax Code ON

Purchase Invoice line 1>>>>>> GL account 6100 Entertainment -----$100 and tax is 13%  so tax amount $13 but will still go to GL account 6100

Purchase Invoice Line 2>>>>>GL account 6200 Hotels ……$200 and Tax is 13% so the tax amount is $26 but will still go to GL account 6200

now I m trying to get a report that will show me the details of account 6100

That will allow me to differentiate still the $100 and the 13% that it was related to the tax code ON

so will be similar to this

Account                  Amount                    Tax Amount    Tax code

GL 6100                  113                         13                          ON

GL 6200                 200                          26                          ON

how can I get this report in BC

Thanks

Ola

    Hi,

Can you see if this solution can help you to move forward.

If you are using Business Central, if you go to the General Ledger Entries of the account that you need, please see if you have this following information:

Note: It is possible that the Field VAT Amount is hidden, in the General Ledger Entries. To insert that field you just need to click:

    Then click in "+ Field"

    and search for VAT Amount

Hope this can help you to move forward.

    Hi Laeticia

    Thank you for your reply.

I m using a Canadian version.  we don't use VAT, but instead we use tax amount.  I tried to add it and it comes as zero amount.  even if the transaction has taxes still.  I can see also the screenshot where you added VAT, has all amount as zero similar to the results I get when I add Tax amount field

    Thanks

    Hi Ola,

The report to use for viewing sales tax amounts by Tax Jurisdiction per Tax Area is the 'Sales Tax Collected' report.  The detail would break out the amounts by Tax Jurisdiction/invoice #, not the G/L Account.  I can't say if it displays the expensed amount that you seek (i.e. like Account 6110) because when I tested on my CAD tenant, any Tax Detail of a Tax Jurisdiction with Expense/Capitalize set to TRUE did not populate/report.  That seems like a bug.  I'll write it up for review by our Dev team and in a future update hopefully this report will be of assistance for your reporting needs.  Thanks.

    Hi Ola,

After some additional testing, this report has behaved this way since the on-prem versions.  The issue is when an expensed line item is posted, no tax ledger entry is created.  I'll still write this up, but I am think this is more of a design change request than a bug since the report has behaved this way for many versions.  I'll leave this open to the community to see if they have any ideas in the meantime to help with reporting.  Thanks.
