How to upgrade to Field Service Version 8

Has anyone been able to upgrade from field service 7.5 to version 8.0

Referring to https://community.dynamics.com/365/b/365teamblog/archive/2018/11/08/release-notes-for-field-service-version-8-update-release-2 there is an enhancement for :

Enabled the ability to upgrade from previous versions of Field Service to Field Service version 8.

I do not see an upgrade for field service available in any organisation beyond 7.5.6.97

Surely if the release notes show it as available we should be able to upgrade through the admin center?

Is this another feature that will only be available for upgrade as part of the April release?

You need to go to the insider portal at experience.dynamics.com/insider and choose the "Opt-in to upgrade Project and Field Service - Unified Interface". After you register, it takes 2-3 business days until the upgrade is available on your tenant.

I recently upgraded one of my instances from 7.5 to 8.3

thanks Alex, makes sense. So does this mean that version 8 upgrade as not actually at GA right now?

No worries, it is GA. The reason for the opt-in process is that FS v8 is only available in the new UI. An "accidental" upgrade could cause lots of issues if the end users have not been prepared.

thanks, just managed to get a sandbox environment and can see the havoc upgraded it creates in the old ui. Turn around time from requested access was under an hour which was impressive

I think if you want to do the update before mid of may: yes. Or you create a new trial and get v8 there to examine what you're looking for.

Hi @Abood, yes, for upgrades in existing paid tenants, you still need to enroll into the insider program.
