How can I make to work the Quick Start example from the 2016 SDK with Visual Studio 2015?

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Greetings:

I've tried to run this sample program from SDK in a CRM 2016 online solution:  https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg334689.aspx

It says it's required to run in VS 2012 or VS 2013. However, I've tried multiple combinations in the console (once the application is running), and I've been encountering the following message:

However....if I use the configuration file provided in the answer section of this post: https://community.dynamics.com/crm/f/117/p/204262/530734#530734. I can run it successfully.

The problem?

That's not what I want; or at least, that's not what I'm expecting.

Request

Can anyone explain me why I'm able to connect in one way, but no the other in VS 2015? Is there a way to circumvent this or is just how it is...?

I'm trying to learn the why's from CRM and from this forum, I don't want to become a copy and paste monkey. :D

Thank you!

    I wanted to connect using the SDK solution, but this works. Thank you Nithya!

    Sure David;

    It's in the MSDN Prerequisites section of this link;  msdn.microsoft.com/.../gg334689.aspx

    Unless they forgot to update it to show VS 2015...

    I can't see the message that you say you get for VS 2012 and 2013 - can you repost ?

    I have had problems with authenticating to some Dynamics 365 Online organisations; the underlying issue seems to be that WS-Trust authentication fails, but OAuth is OK. The choice of whether WS-Trust or OAuth is used is not obvious in SDK code (other than if using connection strings), and this may be affecting you
