Inquiry Results Default to Top of List

Posted on by 95

Within this window there is a Lookup button (magnifying glass) that opens the Items list.

This list always highlights the item number of the current displayed item in the calling window (i.e. Item Maintenance).

Now there is a setting in the "Items" Window next to the heading "View: All Item Numbers; by Item Number" accessible by a white down-arrow.

If you mess with this setting AT ALL (please don't) and then choose "Set as Default View" you will NEVER...NOT EVER...be able to get the lookup window to default to the current selected item ever again. It just defaults to the top of the list.

This only applies to the current user in the current company. If the user logs into a different company, the lookup window behaves normally. ADDITIONALLY, if the user logs into that company from ANY computer, that setting follows the user account in that company. The setting is not stored locally on the user's GP install.

How do we reset the GP server/table or whatever to have Lookup Window default to the item that was listed in the calling window?? This bug follows all lookup windows that open the Items window (e.g. Item Maintenance, Kit Maintenance, Sales Transaction Entry, Bill of Materials View, etc.).

Thank you Mahmoud.  This worked great in our test environment and will be implemented in production tonight.

    Dan,

Go to DYNAMICS..ASIEXP99 | Lookup Default View on your SQL Management System, the favorites are stored within this table per user per company.

Run the following script to return a certain user id favorites:

    SELECT * FROM DYNAMICS..ASIEXP99 WHERE USERID = '#UserID'

Delete the records associated with your User ID to remove any favorite look up view.

    Hope this helps,

    Leslie:

I created TestUser in Dynamics GP in an attempt to reproduce this error in a fresh account.

I logged in as TestUser, went to Inquire > Sales > Sales Items

    I did a search for TIE…

I hit the magnifiying glass icon, and search screen came up, starting with the first TIE item…

I clicked the drop-down next to View: All Items… and clicked on Set as Default View

Now, if I go to Inquiry > Sales > Sales Items  and do the same search, the results screen comes up at the start of the list…

I took screenshots of all these steps that I wish you could see, but they aren't showing up here.  What I want to know is how to undo that "Set as Default View" action without deleting and re-creating the account.

It is the same for me as well, I have tried several scenarios to re-produce the same results but couldn't be exposed to any.

    Hi Dan,

I just tried it on my local install and I do not experience the same result. I changed the lookup to sort by site. I changed that to my default sort. I closed the SOP Entry window, opened it again, pulled up an order, selected a line item and then clicked the looking glass button. The Items window opened sorted by site, with the item selected from the line item in the SOP document.

More info please, I cannot reproduce what you are experiencing.

    Kind regards,

    Leslie
